De unges kommunestyre (DUK)

The students had a really good time yesterday at the DUK. They all took ownership of their tasks today, both preparing the stand, presenting to De unges kommunestyre (DUK), negotiating, and voting. As always, the schools in our zone are Drengsrud, Jansløkka, AIS, and Solvang ungdomsskole.

Our suggestions were not the ones with the most points, but one of them was still elected. Here's how that happened: The suggestion with the most points was Utekino (145 000 NOK), the second was improvement of stairs in Holmen (150 000 NOK). That left 5000 NOK left before reaching the total of 300 000 NOK, and since our suggestion with Leksekafé was the only one that low in price, it was elected.

It goes without saying that our group were thrilled about that, they have worked really hard the past months to come up with and develop their suggestions.

Well done to all the boys and girls for their efforts! And a big thanks to miss Karoline too!

Campfire Success

Mr. Ole Anders organised a lovely outing for the middle years students yesterday. The students were out in the forest engaging in activities that were connected to approaches to learning.

Students had to work together as a team, to collaborate and to communicate effectively to successfully complete the tasks set for them.

Some students produced a snowman with an uncanny resemblance to a certain political figure.

It was a bit damp, but we managed to get a good fire going.

Students meet with the Mayor of Asker

DUK Solvang skole

Students from AIS and Miss Karoline had a really good meeting at Solvang skole with students from Solvang skole, Drengsrud skole, Jansløkka skole and AIS. They met mayor Lene Conradi and three representatives from Asker kommune (Terje Larsen, Elisabeth Augdahl, Bjørn Erik Olsen) and discussed our current suggestions for the DUK (De Unges Kommunestyre) meeting in March.

The next meeting will be some time just before February 16th, after that, a meeting before March 23, which is the final DUK meeting this year.

Great that their ideas for a better municipality is being heard by the Mayor's office.

Calendar for 2017/2018 now available

The calendar for 2017/2018 is now available on our web page. We have also posted it below and on our facebook page for your convenience.

The most important thing to observe now is the holiday dates. We ask parents to carefully plan around these times.

We also ask people to appreciate some event dates might change as we get closer to the next school year. It is difficult to factor everything in this far ahead in time.
