A rubbish assembly

paraguay dump

Pun intended! Miss Debra and her grade 2 class gave a wonderful presentation on supply and demand today, presenting their lines of inquiry to the school and explaining, through song, the impact of when supply increases or falls. Very impressive for grade 2 kids. Good job! Please go to their blog to read more about it.

In relation to economy and consumption Miss Debra also pulled in the area of environment and waste. She showed the students some powerful videos, which I encourage everyone to watch and consider. It certainly made me think of my lifestyle and how I view recycling.  We didn't have time to watch the video in it's entirety, but I encourage families to do so when they get a chance.

Photo Competition Winners

It was a difficult decision to reach, with 20 students submitting up to 6 photos each. To evaluate the winners for this photo competition we looked at both the style of the picture taken, combined with the IB attitude chosen. There were three category winners: grade 1 and 2, grades 3 and 4, grades 5 and 6

Weather changes and other variables

snowCAR 1777938b

We have seen a lot of changing weather as of late, with wonderful weather conditions on Thursday causing all sorts of chaos for everyone. It is very important to remember that the kids will go outside in almost all types of weather.

It has been very wet of late and there are only so many spare pairs of socks in the building. Please make sure your children are dressed accordingly, with changes in their bags for those 'just in case' situations.

The kids will happily roll around in snow, ice and water and even the best of clothing can succumb to their antics. So please make sure they have a change.

Contract signed - the future is bright

It was another great day today for Asker International school and a milestone. We sat down and signed a contract with Asker kommune for the expansion of the school.

We will share more details for the plan of expansion with parents and our community once we have them in place. In the meantime - thank you to all the parents for their continued support and a big thank you to Ragnar Studsrød and Alf Henning Flåten for getting the contract sorted before the Christmas holidays.

A lot of development ahead, but very exciting times indeed.
