School reopening

After many weeks of online learning, we opened our doors today for the youngest students. As they walked into the school, they were introduced to the new routines and measures we have set in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. The students are glad to be back and see their friends and teachers, we could see many happy faces in the classrooms.

Remember to check our information video here if anything remains unclear about the school’s protocols.

We will keep updating our community with any new information and as always, check our social media accounts for updates on what goes on inside the classrooms. We hope everyone in our community is staying safe and healthy.

Home learning

Home learning has taken off with the support of all staff, parents and of course our very dedicated students! The teachers are learning as we expand on our online classrooms. New techniques are being acquired and we are adapting to the circumstances as well as we can. We want to keep the students motivated and on track with their schooling, see image above.

Grade 2 have been creating their own superhero character profiles during home learning. We're really impressed by the diversity and creativity of the characters!

We have also introduced UpliftED - A podcast created by Asker International School for anyone passionate about pedagogy. A small school with a big VOICE! Mr Mark interviews educators, students, parents and influencers on all things education. Episode 1 is here.

During the next few days we will be sharing the pictures you send us about children helping out at home. We like to call this "Action at Home!", follow our Facebook page for more updates.

Green fingers and field trips

Grade 5 began a new project this week, devised by Miss Elizabeth and Miss Lauren. Every member of Grade 5 has been given a plant to look after for the rest of the year and beyond. We hope that at the end of the year they will be able to propagate them to hand on to Grade 4, and so on down the school, see image above.

As part of the school-wide field trips this week, Grade 6 visited the Teknisk Museum in Oslo. They learned how to play a player piano and how the Northern lights and Southern lights work. The students had exciting experiences and enjoyed various playful learning activities.

Grade 7 and 8 visited the Oslofjord museum in Vollen. They heard about the history of Oslofjorden, how the fjord-culture in Norway has developed and how it looks different in different places in our country today.

Grade 1 took a trip to the Teknisk Museum as well. They had a great time exploring the museum and visiting the planetarium.
