The IB

All the information listed below is sourced from www.ibo.org and International Baccalaureate documentation and publications

Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career - related Certificate). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org

IBO Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end, the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) is for students aged 3-12

What is the PYP?

The PYP prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both within and beyond the classroom.

Find out more about the PYP.

The PYP curriculum

The PYP curriculum contains three key components, which explain how students learn, how educators teach, and the principles and practice of effective assessment within the programme.

Who is the PYP for?

As long as a school has been authorized to implement the programme, the PYP is open to any student aged 3 to 12.

What is the MYP?

The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.

The MYP is a five-year programme, which can be implemented in a partnership between schools, or in several abbreviated (two, three or four year) formats. Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP).

Find out more about the MYP.

The MYP curriculum

The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups, providing a broad and balanced education for early adolescents.

The MYP requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group, in each year of the programme. In the final two years of the programme, carefully-defined subject group flexibility allows students to meet local requirements and personal learning goals.

External assessment and recognition

In the final year of the programme, optional MYP eAssessment provides IB-validated grades based on examinations and course work.  Students who undertake external assessment are eligible for IB Course Results and the IB MYP Certificate.

Find out more about MYP assessment.

Access and eligibility

The MYP is open to any student aged 11 to 16, at schools that have been authorized to implement the programme.

The MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation. Implementation of the MYP is a whole-school endeavour, although the programme can accommodate academically-selective models.

Drop-off and pick up plan

Pick-up and drop-off

Driving into the playground is now strictly forbidden. Under no circumstances is it allowed to drive into the playground.

1 - Follow the traffic flow in the car park. Not having a free parking space does not justify stopping in the middle of the traffic flow area, blocking everyone else in. In front of the school there is a large parking area.
2- Do not park stop directly outside the front of the school. Dropping off or waiting for 'just a second' constitutes stopping. When one person does it, 10 others try.
3- Please use the student entrance (playground door) to drop off or collect your children. PYP students are collected from the playground at the end of the day.
4- Please any children arriving after 9 am should use the main entrance (Reception door).

Set a good example for all the children.

Inform anyone you ask to collect your children on your behalf of the traffic system.

Pick-up (collection at the end of the day)

Students will gather outside their classrooms and will be led outside by their homeroom teachers to be collected  from the playground at the end of the day. Parents park in the car park.
