A great weekend of Kata, Kumite and Kihon was had in Asker on Saturday and Sunday, with representatives from as far as Nepal and Botswana (Botswana winning the mens team Kumite event on Sunday).

And one of our own was there. 

We would like to congratulate Dina on winning her event on Saturday and we hope it shows the benefit of having such disciplines as Karate in your life. 

A big thank you to Asker Karate Klubb and to Muthu for inviting us to witness the event. Thank you to Muthu also for bringing Karate to Asker International School.

Asker International School was visited by a New Zealand Sevens Rugby team, the Pirates, who are in country for a 7s competition called TabuSoro Valhall Seven's taking place on March 20th at Vallhall  arena.

Thanks to the efforts of David Scavera, representing Blindern Rugby Klubb and our own Andrew Johns, grade 6 teacher and PE teacher for the school, we had a wonderful day event with grades 5 and 6. 

The kids were fully engaged and enjoyed a display of the Haka as an added bonus. We were also very happy to have a visit from Budstikka newspaper.

The Learner Profile unpacked by the teachers

The teachers have spent some time in their collaborative sessions to look at the Learner Profile in an inquiry-based fashion. This has been a very useful activity because it gives the teachers more of an ownership of something that is already well defined by the International Baccalaureate. Through doing this, they factor in the relevance of the Learner Profile in their grade level in our school. 

Disco Night a Grand Affair

The disco night was a very successful after-school event that was organised by the parent council. The event ran from 17:00-19:00 with a lot of fun, frolics and food had by all. 

We thank the parents for their initiative and the students for their enthusiasm. A definite do-over event, all would agree!
