Grade 8 Castle Projects

Grade 8 have been working hard on their castle projects in their Individuals and Societies lessons. Now all their castles are on display in the locker area outside their classroom. Please take the time to admire their work.

Please click here to see a short video of their work.

One of the students had gone the extra mile and created a moat, which didnt turn out to well when he added water! So we added a picture below so you can see his hard work.

Grade 7 Temple project

Grade 7 researched Ancient Greece as part of their Individuals and Societies lessons. They had to organise and create a PowerPoint presentation and as part of their project had to work on a model of an ancient temple.

The temples are currently on display in the school library area. We encourage you to come take a look!

Please click here to view a short video on their work.

Nice work Grade 7 and Mr. Brent!

Monday Assembly on Trust

Mr. Jonathan ran an assembly yesterday, Monday 23rd August, on trust. He got both students and staff to play a game known as 'prisoner's dilemma',  a situation in which two players each have two options whose outcome depends crucially on the simultaneous choice made by the other, often formulated in terms of two prisoners separately deciding whether to confess to a crime.

In our case, they had to decide whether they would share a sum of money or not. If they both chose 'share' they would split the money, if they both chose 'keep', neither would get anything. If one chose 'keep' and the other 'share', then the one who chose 'keep' would get all the money. See below.

First day back August 2016

first day2016

It was great to see faces new and old today. Interesting, comparing the first assembly in 2013 to today. In 2013, we hardly filled the middle section, parents and students. Now, even without grade 1 present yet, we almost filled the hall.

Almost all the staff were present and stood before the students, so they could see their faces. They guessed their names and nationalities.

We talked about expectations at school, for both students and teachers. We talked about the playground, we talked about the school and all was wrapped in a theme of respect and friendship.

All the students were re-assigned in houses and were then sent off to start their first day back at Asker International School.

Welcome to all!
