World book day
Asker International School will be celebrating World Book Day on Monday, April 24th, 2017. The theme of this year's celebration is "A love of books is infectious - pass it on".
There are few better recommendations for what to read than word of mouth, and the enthusiasm of someone who really loved a book and wants to share it. It is this that we're going to try to harness.
Teachers will be bringing in books that they love and want to share with others, and we will be "selling" them to the children to persuade them to come and hear us read them out loud. As well as this, we want also children to recommend books that they love, especially ones that we don't have in the school library. The aim is to build a shopping list for possible additions to our library.
As well as this, there will be the usual "Come as a character from a book" competition. There will be first prizes of 300 NOK giftcards at www.ark.no for the winners, as well as two second prizes of 200 NOK giftcards. We will have two separate competitions and prizes for PYP and MYP students.
The winning entries will:
- bring a copy of the book their character appears in with them
- be able to talk about the book and the character
- show creativity in their costume
We hope that World Book Day will fun for everyone, as well as being a celebration of reading. If you have any questions, please get in contact with This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
