Our first field trip is confirmed!

Asker International School to visit Norsk Folkemuseum in Oslo, 30th August.

On Friday 30th August we will take a bus into Oslo to visit the national folk museum. The bus will depart at 09:00 from the school. When we arrive on-site the group will be split in two and we will have two separate tours at 11:00 and 12:00.

Not knowing what the weather will be like we ask parents to make sure their kids are packed and dressed properly. It is a largely outdoor experience so please make sure the kids have the required clothing for the day.

Students are also to bring a packed lunch (as normal). The bus will depart at 14:00 to return to the school. So students should be back in time for a 14:45 collection. SFO/Afterschool services will operate as normal.

From Norsk Folkemuseum website www.norskfolkemuseum.no

The Norsk Folkemuseum is Norway’s largest museum of cultural history. With collections from around the country, the museum shows how people lived in Norway from 1500 to the present.

The more than 150 buildings in the Open-Air Museum represent different regions in Norway, different time periods, as well as differences between town and country, and social classes. The Gol Stave Church dating from 1200 is one of five medieval buildings at the museum. The contemporary history is presented through exhibitions and documentation projects focusing especially on children, youth and the multicultural population. Permanent indoor exhibitions include folk art, folk costumes, toys and Sami culture. There is also a variety of temporary exhibitions and audience programs all year round.
